The Jewish Museum of Vienna takes its visitors on a trip to Shanghai in their exhibition “The Viennese in China”, which is available from October 21, 2020, until April 18, 2021. The exhibition is dedicated to the history of Jewish families from Vienna, for whom Shanghai has become a place of hope. They created their “Little Vienna” in a completely foreign environment, opening up cafés, pastry shops and restaurants. The museum provides insights into this forgotten chapter of Viennese Jewish history and introduces the families who built and supported this district in Shanghai.
