Czech Republic Foreign Minister Visits Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum

  On the afternoon of November 4, 2018, Tomas Petricek, Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic, visited Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum, along with his delegation. Gao Xiang, deputy mayor of Hongkou District, accompanied the visitors. Mr. Petricek listened to the history of Jewish refugees fleeing from Europe to Shanghai during World War II, and then told Director Chen Jian: "During the Second World War, many Czech Jewish refugees came to Shanghai. However, this history is not well known in the Czech Republic. I hope that through the reports of the media friends accompanying our visit, more Czechs will know this history and come here." After the visit, Deputy Mayor Gao Xiang had a brief meeting with Mr. Petricek. Gao Xiang expressed her hope that Mr. Petricek would communicate his impression of Hongkou District, especially the excellent business environment, to Czech entrepreneurs and encourage them to tap opportunities in Hongkou. Later, Mr. Petricek had a friendly meeting at the White Horse Inn with SISU students majoring in the Czech language. He encouraged them to learn more about Czech and become the messengers of Sino-Czech friendship.
