Shanghai Tourism Officials met with Israeli Consul General in Shanghai to Promote Cooperation

On January 8, Ms. Cheng Meihong, the Deputy Director General of the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism met with Edward Shapira, the Consul General of Israel in Shanghai in the Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum. The two sides discussed further cooperation on tourist and cultural affairs.

Having visited the Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum several times, Mr. Edward Shapira expressed his affection for the museum. The history about Shanghai providing shelter for Jewish refugees during the WWII, meant a great deal for the Jewish people. The Israeli Consulate in Shanghai hoped that every Israeli could visit the museum when they come to Shanghai for any purpose. To facilitate this goal, the Israeli Consulate in Shanghai would enhance promotion of the Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum. Moreover, the consulate would also organize a variety of cultural and tourist activities together with the museum to attract more Israelis and foreign tourists.

Ms.Cheng Meihong, the Deputy Director General agreed on the early planning for cultural and tourist events during pandemic time. Shanghai Municipality would appreciate more publicity for tourism and business in Shanghai from the Israeli side. On the other side, the municipality would also promote Israeli sightseeing and cultural resources to Shanghai people. Both sides could have closer cooperation and more exchanges in term of tourism after the pandemic. Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism also welcomed Israeli guests to pay more visits to the Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum.

Mr. Chen Ping, Director of Marketing & Promotion Dept. of the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Chen Jian, Curator of Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum, Ms. Mor Ben Moshe, Deputy Consul General of Israel in Shanghai and Mr. Roy Kriezman, Consul of Israel Ministry of Tourism to China also attended the meeting.
