Shanghai Jewish Refugee Museum launches international advisory board

　　SHANGHAI, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Shanghai Jewish Refugee Museum launched an international advisory board Wednesday consisting of 27 world experts.

　　With the first term running three years, the board members are mainly professors from countries including China, the United States, the United Kingdom and Israel, some of whom are descendants of Jewish refugees from World War II.

　　The board was set up to promote international exchanges, improve academic capabilities of the museum and pool resources from around the world, according to Chen Jian, curator of the museum.

　　"I do wish to learn how the present world may use the experience of the Jewish refugees in Shanghai to promote tolerance, understanding and peace," said Joe Jeff Goldblatt, vice chairman of the board and head of the Jewish Culture Center Edinburgh.

　　Established in 2007, the museum has attracted more than 400,000 visits from over 100 countries and regions. It has also collected more than 700 objects and a large number of oral historical materials from all around the world.

　　"With the continuous expansion of the museum and the gradual enhancement of its international influence, it has become one of the frontiers for cultural exchange and academic research," Chen said.
